Rough terrain counterbalance
The rough terrain counterbalance lift truck is used where ground conditions require a more versatile truck, and telescopic is not required.
Course Aim
On completion of training the course members will:
- be able to operate the truck model used during training safely and correctly in accordance with the manufacturer's handbook and accepted good practice
- clearly understand the causes of instability of trucks and loads
- be able to carry out a routine pre-use inspection of the truck
Course Contents
- Introduction to the lift truck
- Controls and instruments
- Starting, moving and stopping the truck
- Steering the truck
- Operation of hydraulic controls
- Pre-use inspection & takeover maintenance
- Weight assessment
- Handling pallets/containers/bulk packs & loads associated with the industry in which the trruck is operating
- Driving on/off ramps and inclines
- Driving and operating over rough terrain
- Lorry loading and unloading
- Stacking/de-stacking - freestanding and in racking or shelving, to and from scaffolding/towers/platforms etc.
- Operators safety code
- Lift truck stability
- Principles of operating on rough terrain
Certification and Validation
Candidates successfully completing this course will receive a certificate of training accredited by either RTITB or ITSSAR
