Rough Terrain Telescopic
Often referred to as a telehandler or teleporter, this type of fork lift truck has become much more popular in recent years as its design provides a more versatile alternative to the traditional masted counterbalance truck (standard and rough terrain).
The telehandler comes with an array of attachments including forks, bucket and various grabs, and is used accross many industries
Course Aim
On completion of training the course members will:
- be able to operate the truck model used during training safely and correctly in accordance with the manufacturer's handbook and accepted good practice
- clearly understand the causes of instability of trucks and loads
- be able to carry out a routine pre-use inspection of the truck
Course Contents
- Introduction to the lift truck
- Controls and instruments
- Starting, moving and stopping the truck
- Steering the truck including 2 wheel, 4 wheel and crab steering
- Operation of hydraulic controls
- Pre-use inspection
- Weight assessment
- Handling pallets/containers/bulk packs & loads associated with the industry in which the trruck is operating
- Driving on/off ramps and inclines
- Driving and operating over rough terrain
- Lorry loading and unloading
- Stacking/de-stacking - freestanding and in racking or shelving, to and from scaffolding/towers/platforms etc.
- Operators safety code
- Lift truck stability
- Principles of operating on rough terrain
Certification and Validation
Candidates successfully completing this course will receive a certificate of training accredited by either RTITB or ITSSAR
