Excavator Syllabus
Aim
To provide the practical skills and the operating safety knowledge necessary for the safe and efficient operation of an EXCAVATOR.
Course Content
Responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974, and other relevant
legislation such as PUWER and LOLER Regulations
Pre-operational checks and daily maintenance
Battery care and refueling procedures
Mobility and stability factors
Safety rules applicable to operating
Safe use of attachments
Excavating and backfilling
Safely loading a vehicle, i.e. dumper or trailer
Skill
On completion of the course, trainees will be able to:
Carry out pre-shift checks and daily maintenance.
Operate the equipment safely and efficiently.
Correctly site the equipment allowing for ground and weather conditions and other environmental factors
Trainees will receive an ITSSAR accredited certificate and a photocard license, upon successful completion.
