Excavator Course Syllabus

Aim
To provide the practical skills and the operating safety knowledge necessary for the safe and efficient operation of a 360 EXCAVATOR.

Course Content
Responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974, and other relevant

Legislation such as PUWER and LOLER Regulations

Pre-operational checks and daily maintenance

Battery care and refueling procedures

Mobility and stability factors

Safety rules applicable to operating

Safe use of attachments

Excavating and backfilling

Evacuate a trench to level and tolerances

Build a stockpile and safely load a vehicle, i.e. dumper or trailer

Skill
On completion of the course, trainees will be able to:

Carry out pre-shift checks and daily maintenance.

Operate the equipment safely and efficiently.

Correctly site the equipment allowing for ground and weather conditions and other environmental factors
